The 59th meeting of the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG) was held virtually on 2 December 2021. The CMAG met virtually due to COVID-19 restrictions. Following the meeting, the group released their Concluding Statement, available here.

Foreign Affairs Ministers from across the Commonwealth met yesterday for the 21st annual Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting (CFAMM). The meeting was held virtually for the second year in a row due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG) held its forty-fourth meeting in New York, on 26 September 2014.

The flag of the Republic of Fiji went up at the Commonwealth Secretariat gardens in London, following a positive decision to change the status of the country's membership in the organisation.

CMAG decided that Fiji’s current full suspension from the Commonwealth should be changed to suspension from the councils of the Commonwealth, thus permitting Fiji once again to participate in a range of Commonwealth activities.

CMAG recalled its decision of 13 November to place Maldives on its formal agenda pending the holding of a credible election on 16 November and the inauguration of a new president. Ministers therefore decided to remove Maldives from CMAG’s formal agenda.

Meeting in New York today, Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG) Ministers considered the situation in Maldives, where the second round of the presidential election would have been due to take place on 28 September 2013.

<li>CMAG welcomed the recent adoption by Heads of Government, and signature by The Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, of the Charter of the Commonwealth, encapsulating the core values and principles of the Commonwealth. It noted that the Charter reaffirmed the Commonwealth’s commitment inter alia to democracy, human rights, the rule of law, separation of powers, freedom of expression, good governance, tolerance, respect and understanding and the role of civil society. As the custodian of the Commonwealth’s fundamental political values, the Group pledged to continue to promote these commonly agreed goals.</li>

25 April 2013 – The Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG), made up of nine foreign ministers, will meet at the Commonwealth Secretariat in London, UK, on Friday 26 April 2013. CMAG will discuss political developments in Fiji since September 2012, when the Group last met in New York. Fiji remains fully suspended from the Commonwealth and on CMAG’s formal agenda.
