Trade and economy

We help boost trade between member countries.

The Commonwealth helps boost trade between member countries, to create prosperity for all. Here are some of our programmes that support trade and economy.

Creating better trade opportunities

Commonwealth experts help member countries improve their global trade competitiveness by developing their export capabilities.

Public Debt Management Programme

The Secretariat’s Debt Management Unit (DMU) supports member countries to effectively manage their debt portfolios.

Oceans and natural resources

The Commonwealth Secretariat assists member countries to sustainably manage their natural resources, in the ocean and on land, for the benefit of current and future generations.

Connectivity Agenda

The Commonwealth Connectivity Agenda is a platform for countries to exchange best practices and experiences to trade and investment and undertake domestic reform.

Small States

Thirty-two of the world’s 42 small states are Commonwealth members. We have championed small and vulnerable states since the 1980s and campaign internationally for special attention to the unique development challenges they face.

Commonwealth Fintech Toolkit

The Commonwealth Fintech Toolkit aims to build the capabilities of senior leaders and their teams, helping them to understand the building blocks of fintech.
