The Commonwealth Secretariat will host a hybrid seminar on 21 November 2023 in London to examine the critical role of the rule of law in protecting democracy and human rights.
The seminar will provide a platform for prominent experts from around the Commonwealth to discuss how the rule of law contributes to upholding democratic principles, defending human rights and promoting sustainable development.
In addition, experts will share good practices to help countries strengthen their existing norms and procedures that support the rule of law.
The seminar is part of a series of events being hosted by the Commonwealth Secretariat’s Rule of Law Section to discuss emerging legal challenges. Its outcomes will contribute to the Commonwealth Equal Access to Justice Action Plan – a framework endorsed by Commonwealth leaders at their biennial meeting in Rwanda last year.
