Despite the delay to the implementation and subsequent negotiating phases of the AfCFTA, this issue of Trade Hot Topics discusses how current achievements and ongoing negotiations for Phase 1 (movement of goods and services) and future negotiations for Phase 2 (investment, competition policy and e-commerce) can be positioned as a catalyst to enhance a trade paradigm capable of withstanding shocks to the international trading system.
