Food security is one of the biggest threats facing not only the Commonwealth, but millions of people around the world. Compounded by climate change, soaring food prices and geopolitical issues, millions are at risk of not being able to access necessary nutrition.

The Commonwealth Secretariat has partnered with the Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC), a member of the Islamic Development Bank Group, and Cameroon’s Ministry of Trade to deliver the first of a series of digital boot camp training workshops to build the capacity of women-owned micro, small and medium sized enterprises (MSMEs) across the west central African country.

With 60% of the Commonwealth’s combined population under the age of 30, the Commonwealth sees young people aged 15 to 29 as assets to a country’s development who should be empowered to realise their potential.

This week, the Commonwealth Secretary-General, Rt Hon Patricia Scotland QC, spoke at the Management Development Institute (MDI) in New Delhi India, about the importance of closing the digital divide and utilizing strategies such as SMART governance.

The deadline for submitting nominations for the 2023 Commonwealth Youth Awards, which recognise exceptional young people from across the Commonwealth, has been extended until the 31st October.
