Leaders of Commonwealth countries meet every two years for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), hosted by different member countries on a rotating basis.
Since 1971, 26 meetings have been held, with the most recent being in Rwanda in 2022.
Samoa 2024
The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting 2024 (CHOGM) will take place in Apia, Samoa from 21-26 October 2024.
It will be the first CHOGM to be held in a Pacific Small Island Developing State.
Building on progress since CHOGM 2022, leaders will deliberate on global economic, environmental and security challenges, and discuss how Commonwealth countries can work together to build resilience, boost trade, innovation, growth and empower the Commonwealth’s 1.5 billion young people for a more peaceful and sustainable future.

One Resilient Common Future
The theme for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, is ‘One Resilient Common Future: Transforming our Common Wealth’.
The theme highlights how the 56 member countries must harness their strengths by building resilience, unlocking potential, leveraging the 'Commonwealth Advantage' and fostering a connected, digital Commonwealth. This transformation is vital to ensure a resilient common future where no one is left behind.

Ahead of CHOGM, members of parliament, youth and gender activists, as well as representatives from society and business, will meet at special forums to ensure the voices of women, young people, businesses and other organisations are heard at CHOGM.

Accreditation for media to attend CHOGM 2024 and its associated events is now open and all interested news-gathering organisations are invited to apply for accreditation.
Applicants must complete an online application form which will be subject to security clearance. Completion of accreditation does not guarantee that credentials will be issued.
