‘One Commonwealth, One Team’ exhibition matches in Antigua and Barbuda will bring Heads of Government and emerging young cricket talent together to accelerate partnerships and investment for a prosperous Commonwealth.
Cricket legend and CHOGM 2026 Envoy Sir Vivian Richards took the bat today at Marlborough House, for the launch of the ‘One Commonwealth, One Team’ Exhibition Cricket Match Series, to be held in Antigua and Barbuda in November. The cricket series will be played alongside the 2026 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) and will bring leaders and the next generation of Commonwealth cricket talent in a celebration of sport, partnership and shared purpose.
Taking place at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua and Barbuda on the 1 November, the series underscores the CHOGM 2026 theme, Accelerating Partnerships and Investment for a Prosperous Commonwealth, through one of the Commonwealth’s most cherished shared traditions.
The cricket series is supported by the Government of Antigua and Barbuda and Commonwealth Secretariat alongside the Sustainable Markets Initiative (SMI), Commonwealth Sport, the West Indies Cricket Association and the Khalili Foundation.
Inspired by the legacy of cricket legend, national hero and CHOGM 2026 Envoy, Sir Vivian Richards, the series leverages the power of sport to celebrate the values that connect the Commonwealth: partnership, friendship, leadership, inclusion and shared purpose.
The series features two fixtures, including a friendly T5 match between Commonwealth Heads of Government, with Caribbean leaders facing counterparts from the wider Commonwealth, followed by the Commonwealth Future Stars Under-23 T10 Match, spotlighting emerging young talent. Together, the matches unite leaders, young people and communities, while providing a compelling international platform to showcase the region and the wider Commonwealth.

The series builds on a wider ambition to ensure major sporting events leave a legacy beyond competition – showcasing how collaboration across governments, sporting organisations, businesses and communities can support sustainable development, social cohesion, economic opportunity and positive environmental action. It also contributes to the broader role sport will play at CHOGM 2026, alongside the Commonwealth Sport summit taking place during CHOGM week, which will bring together senior leaders from government, sport and business to explore sport’s contribution to sustainable development, economic prosperity and Commonwealth unity.
