15 December 2017

India's youth minister has described sport as the vehicle for change when it comes to young people.

Colonel Rajyavardhan Rathore was speaking with Commonwealth Secretary-General Patricia Scotland during a courtesy call on her first official visit to India.

The minister and the Secretary-General discussed how sport can help young people in the Commonwealth, 60 per cent of whom are under 30, with their education as well as developing their leadership skills.

Minister Rathore and Secretary-General Scotland also discussed proposals for a Commonwealth Community Cricketing Cup aimed at women and girls of all ages as well as young men who were 19 or under.
