A Marlborough House Conversation on “Building Peace: The Imam and the Reverend”

Event date: 12 March 2025, 16:00 - 18:30
Commonwealth Peace Prize winners Imam Dr Muhammad Nurayn Ashaf and Pastor Dr James Movel Wuye

Join us at Marlborough House or online for a conversation with Rev Dr James Movel Wuye and Imam Dr Muhammad Nurayn Ashafa, co-founders of the Interfaith Mediation Centre.

Rev Wuye and Imam Ashafa founded the Interfaith Mediation Centre to promote peace and mutual understanding between Christians and Muslims, and are the inaugural joint winners of the Commonwealth Peace Prize. Their work has been recognised internationally as an inspiring showcase of the power of forgiveness and collaboration in conflict resolution.

The event aims to explore and reflect on how an interfaith approach to conflict resolution and peacebuilding helps promote trust and tolerance, enabling a more conducive environment for peace. In particular, ensuring that young people are actively engaged will form part of the discussion.

The Commonwealth Peace Prize, a partnership with the Khalili Foundation, honours those who have fostered dialogue, understanding, and conflict resolution. The prize reinforces the Commonwealth’s commitment to a more peaceful and inclusive world and is part of a larger multi-phase initiative with the Khalili Foundation to attain lasting peace.

After the conversation with the peacebuilders, an iftar - the evening meal to break fasting during Ramadan - will follow in the Blenheim Saloon for all those attending the event at Marlborough House.

There are limited spaces to attend in-person, please register your interest by emailing [email protected]
