On October 5, 2021, the Commonwealth Secretariat is hosting a UN World Data Forum local meet-up, entitled Making it Count, the Value of Commonwealth Data, to discuss the importance of data for sustainable development.
The UN World Data Forum, which takes place 3-6 October, is designed to intensify cooperation between the United Nations and data professionals such as those in ICT, geospatial information managers, data scientists as well as civil society stakeholders.
The Forum was set up following recommendations presented in 2014 by the UN Secretary-General's Independent Expert and Advisory Group on Data Revolution for Sustainable Development.
Local meet-up events allow data and statistical experts to gather with other professionals in their area to discuss building pathways to better data as part of the wider Forum.
