The Commonwealth Secretariat is hosting its fourth Africa regional training event for Commonwealth Election Professionals (CEP) in South Africa from 4-8 December 2023.
The CEP Initiative is an Australian-funded, multi-year project providing professional development opportunities to election professionals in Electoral Management Bodies (EMBs) across member countries.
The workshop will be co-hosted by the Electoral Commission of South Africa, under the general theme: “Strengthening confidence and trust in the Results Management Process”.
Launched in January 2021, the project’s third phase (CEP Phase III) aims to support EMBs deliver transparent, credible, and inclusive electoral processes.
Topics to be discussed within the five-day training event in Cape Town are:
- Monday 4 December: Understanding the RMP (fundamental principles and legal/electoral framework)
- Tuesday 5 December: Electoral technology and the RMP
- Wednesday 6 December: Engaging and managing stakeholders
- Thursday 7 December: Communications and crisis-management (AM); 10th anniversary virtual meeting (PM)
- Friday 8 December: Open session (topic to be determined by participants), reintegration plans and evaluation
