The meeting will be held under the theme: 'Reimagining the power of sport towards healthier, fairer and equitable commonwealth communities.'

Taking place on the margins of the 23rd Commonwealth Games and chaired by the Scottish Government, the meeting will bring together sports ministers, senior officials, Commonwealth Games Associations (CGAs) and key partners from across the sport for development and peace sector.

At 12CSMM member countries will discuss key policy priorities, address shared challenges, and advance collaborative initiatives in and through sport ahead of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Antigua and Barbuda in November 2026.

The road to CHOGM

Sport is a powerful shared heritage across the Commonwealth and plays a unique role in uniting its 2.7 billion people. As Commonwealth leaders prepare to consider the theme Accelerating Partnerships and Investment for a Prosperous Commonwealth at CHOGM, the 12CSMM Ministerial Statement will contribute directly to shaping the policy agenda feeding into those discussions.

Building on the outcomes of the 11th Commonwealth Sports Ministers Meeting, held in 2024 in Paris, 12CSMM will continue to examine how sport can support inclusive and resilient societies, address inequalities, and advance progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
