The Commonwealth Education Trust is an Associated organisation of the Commonwealth. It invests in teachers: the most impactful resource in classrooms across the world. It is a Commonwealth charity committed to tackling the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 4: Ensure quality education for all.
Established in 2007, it is the successor trust to the Commonwealth Institute. The Institute was itself the successor trust to the Imperial Institute, which had its origins in a fund raised in 1886 to celebrate Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee.
Over the first ten years they invested in educational projects with long term impact across a wide spectrum of activities. Now they focus solely on investing in teachers, primarily through their digital flagship programme Teach2030.
