The International Moral Guarantors, comprising the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel, and the Commonwealth Secretariat, have issued a communiqué following their third assessment mission to Sierra Leone from 13 to 20 April 2026.

The communiqué reviews progress in the implementation of the Agreement for National Unity (ANU) signed between the Government of Sierra Leone and the All People’s Congress (APC) on 18 October 2023.

The Joint Assessment Mission was co-led by H.E. Fatoumata Tambajang, former Vice President of the Republic of The Gambia, H.E. Ambassador Tanmaya Lal, Commonwealth Deputy Secretary-General (Programmes) and H.E. Barrie Freeman, Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel.
