Commonwealth Secretary-General Kamalesh Sharma has expressed his heartfelt concern for the safety and welfare of the people of Fiji following the devastating floods that have recently hit the island nation, leaving at least four dead and thousands displaced.
In a statement issued by the Commonwealth Secretariat Spokesperson, Mr Sharma welcomed the offers of assistance already made by the international community, particularly Fiji's Commonwealth neighbours, and encouraged partners to provide as much help as possible to the people of Fiji at this testing and distressing time.
