The Commonwealth Secretariat is partnering with the global software as a service (SaaS) tech giant, Open Weaver, to launch a Makeathon.

A Makeathon is a unique concept that aims to ensure long-term sustainability of digital AI solutions through enabling interested participants, including entrepreneurs, to learn through workshops and design solutions for implementation in businesses.

This pioneering initiative is designed to equip the next generation of digital entrepreneurs from the Commonwealth by reducing barriers to entry through Artificial Intelligence. It aims to change the narrative of consumers of AI products to producers of AI. The Makeathon will enable entrepreneurs and creators of all skill levels including youth and women to build practical and scalable digital applications without the need for coding expertise.

From small businesses to large enterprises, the Makeathon provides an opportunity for innovation and growth, by guiding entrepreneurs on how to create sustainable AI-based solutions.

Through the collaboration with the Commonwealth Secretariat, Open Weaver will also provide cloud credits to successful participants worth 4 million USD over three years to ensure the sustainability of their AI application for economic development.

Join the Commonwealth Secretary-General, the Rt Hon Patricia Scotland KC, who will give a special address; the CEO of Open Weaver, Ashok Balasubramaniam; Abdoulie Jammeh, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Regional Integration and Employment for The Gambia, and the Senior Director (A.I) Trade Oceans and Natural Resources, Suresh Yadav, who will moderate the online webinar.
