Third Biennial Pan-Commonwealth Meeting of Heads of Public Service

Event date: 22 April 2024, 9:00 - 24 April 2024, 17:00 (BST)

Top civil servants across the Commonwealth will meet in London for three days to explore how technology can enhance planning and decision-making for more efficient and effective service delivery.

Hosted by the Commonwealth Secretariat, the third Biennial Pan-Commonwealth meeting will take place from 22-24 April themed ‘Institutionalisation of Smart Government to enhance public service delivery'.

Building on the ongoing dialogue around the urgent need to modernise and enhance the efficiency of public services, Commonwealth Heads of Public Service will discuss performance management and the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to strengthen justice systems and public financial management. The Commonwealth-Intel Artificial Intelligence Policy Tool will also be launched during the meeting.

Delegates will be given the platform to share country case studies based on some of the innovative approaches and strategies adopted to improve performance, digitalise services, minimise bureaucracy and red tape across the Commonwealth public service.

The outcomes and key agreements reached in the meeting will form the basis of recommended policy measures and strategies that will be used to promote the institutionalisation of smart government across the Commonwealth. By sharing best practices and encouraging collaboration, Commonwealth government officials can accelerate development in their countries.

The event will be held at the headquarters of the Commonwealth Secretariat, Marlborough House in London. It will be chaired by The Rt Hon Patricia Scotland KC, Commonwealth Secretary General, and the Prime Minister of Bhutan, Hon. Tshering Tobgay, will deliver the keynote address.
