The Commonwealth Secretariat is hosting the 2020 Regional Conference for Anti-Corruption Agencies in Africa. This will take place from 7-9 September 2020.
A meeting of the Association of Anti-Corruption Agencies in Commonwealth Africa has taken place annually since it was set up by the Commonwealth Secretariat in 2011.
Rwanda was due to host this year’s conference, but it was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic and is now taking place virtually.

Progress made in Africa
The theme for the conference is Assessing Anti-Corruption and Asset Recovery Efforts in Africa.
It is 10 years to when the UN Sustainable Development Goals are to be achieved as part of the 2030 agenda.
SDG 16 incorporates specific targets relating to reducing corruption, bribery, and illicit financial flows.
The conference will therefore provide a timely assessment of what progress has been made in Africa.
Speakers
Heads of Commonwealth Africa anti-corruption bodies will give presentations during the conference.

The conference will be chaired by Papa Owusu-Ankomah, Ghana High Commissioner to the UK and Ireland.
Commonwealth Secretary-General Patricia Scotland will be delivering a keynote address to open the event.
