The first ever pan-Commonwealth forum on sustainable energy will take place on 3-4 June, 2019 at Marlborough House in London.
The event builds on the recognition by Commonwealth leaders in 2018 of the critical importance of sustainable energy to economic development and the imperative to transition to clean forms of energy in view of Article 4.1 of the Paris Agreement and commitments made thereunder.
The forum aims to provide a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experiences amongst member countries, while also identifying priority areas for urgent action. Participants include senior officials (permanent secretary or director level) of national government ministries, departments or agencies with responsibility for the energy sector.
The meeting will review global trends in energy access, renewable energy, and energy efficiency, and discuss potential for cooperation.
