Commonwealth Tourism Seminar

With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the tourism sector in many Commonwealth small states has been disproportionately affected. For many countries who rely on tourism for their economic mainstay, jobs have been lost, revenues depleted, and foreign exchange earnings diminished with a dire outlook for industry. The severe ramifications stemming from decreased tourism arrivals calls for novel and innovative policy options to augment the revival of the tourism sector in an efficient and sustainable manner.

In this context, the Commonwealth Secretariat will be hosting a Ministerial Seminar to discuss new research from the report, Tourism and COVID-19: Mapping a Way Forward for Commonwealth Small States. During this seminar, attendees will learn about this new report and be to gauge the various policy tools that have been adopted across member states, offering further recommendations on best practices and a way forward.
