The Commonwealth Secretariat will host two side events during the 2023 World Bank Group (WBG) and International Monetary Fund (IMF) Spring Meetings in Washington DC to explore innovative financing solutions and fiscal policy options for sustainable and resilient development.
Commonwealth Seminar on Innovative Financing Initiatives for Effective Debt Restructuring
This event will focus on the implementation of innovative financing arrangements, such as debt swaps, for effective debt restructuring. It will offer policymakers a platform to discuss key considerations for debt design, country experiences, and linkages between public finance management and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Commonwealth Seminar on Fiscal Policy Options for Sustainable and Resilient Development
This event will showcase practical policy options for countries and international financial institutions (IFI) to accelerate sustainable development outcomes. Senior officials from governments and IFIs will discuss national and subnational debt design, public finance management as well as access to private finance. The discussion will be followed by a Q&A session.
