‘No Health Without Mental Health’ Intergenerational Dialogue
The Commonwealth Secretariat and the Commonwealth Youth Health Network (CYHN) are holding a side event focused on mental health in the wings of the Commonwealth Health Ministers Meeting (CHMM) and the 76th World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland.
The event will be held under the theme ‘No Health Without Mental Health: An Intergenerational Dialogue between Commonwealth youth leaders and policy makers” and will see young leaders hold a discussion with policymakers on national and regional interventions that can improve mental health services in the Commonwealth.
The event, to be attended by the Commonwealth Secretary-General, Rt Hon Patricia Scotland KC, will also see the presentation of a report on “Youth Mental Health Services in the Commonwealth”, as well as other youth-led initiatives to improve the Commonwealth’s burden of mental health among young people.
It will follow CHMM, to be held on 20 May 2023, where Health Ministers from across the Commonwealth, the Commonwealth Secretary-General and other delegates, will meet to discuss pressing health priorities and challenges facing the Commonwealth, including the acceleration of Universal Health Care commitments across the 56 member states.
The side event is a collaboration between the Government of Bangladesh, the Government of Rwanda, and the Commonwealth Youth Health Network. The Commonwealth Secretary-General will speak at the event.

- Hon Valasi Luapitofanua Toogamaga Tafito Selesele, Minister of Health, Government of Samoa
- Hon Dr Christopher Tufton Minister of Health and Wellness, Government of Jamaica
The event will be moderated by Lucy Fagan, Chair of the Commonwealth Youth Health Network and will feature youth representatives from Africa, Asia, the Pacific, Europe and the Caribbean.

Media Accreditation
Bonafide journalists from legitimate media organisations are invited to apply for media accreditation to attend CHMM and/ or the ‘No Health Without Mental Health’ Intergenerational Dialogue event.
CHMM itself is closed to media, but accredited journalists can attend the opening session to hear the Minister’s opening remarks and to take photos.
The side event is open to accredited journalists.
