Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers meet in New York

The 15th Meeting of Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers will take place in New York on the 22 September 2016.

Foreign Ministers from across the Commonwealth will meet to discuss actions on the internationally agreed goals for sustainable development. The 15th Meeting of Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers (CFAMM) will take place in New York on 22 September 2016.

Held alongside the UN General Assembly, the meeting will give ministers the opportunity to discuss joint priorities in areas such as building the resilience of small states, climate change, tackling violent extremism, and migration.

Agenda
  • Ministers will examine the needs of small states, focusing on actions to reverse climate change and achieve the globally agreed sustainable development goals.
  • Ministers will explore solutions to tackle violent extremism and other issues pertaining to peace and security.
  • Ministers will review the mandates agreed at the 2015 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting to ensure these commitments are fulfilled. 
  • Members of the ministerial committees on Belize and Guyana will meet to agree the way forward in supporting the countries’ territorial integrity.
