The Commonwealth Secretariat will convene the 16th Commonwealth Regional Conference of Heads of Anti-Corruption Agencies in Africa from 4 to 8 May 2026 in Yaoundé, Cameroon.

This conference brings together Heads of Anti-Corruption Agencies from across Commonwealth Africa, alongside international experts and partners, to exchange knowledge, strengthen collaboration, and advance practical solutions to corruption challenges.

The 2026 conference builds on the outcomes of the 2025 meeting in Cape Town, where member states agreed to convene the next session in Cameroon in partnership with the Commonwealth Secretariat.

Theme

Deploying Artificial Intelligence in the Fight Against Corruption in Commonwealth Africa

The 2026 conference will explore how emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, can be harnessed to strengthen transparency, accountability, and enforcement efforts across the region.

Discussions will examine both the opportunities and risks associated with AI, while identifying innovative, scalable approaches to combat corruption and support sustainable development.

Objectives

The conference aims to:

  • Strengthen collaboration among Anti-Corruption Agencies in Commonwealth Africa
  • Promote the adoption of innovative strategies, including AI-driven tools
  • Facilitate knowledge-sharing between practitioners and international experts
  • Support member states in advancing anti-corruption reforms and governance frameworks
  • Contribute to progress towards Sustainable Development Goal 16 (peace, justice and strong institutions)
