The Eswatini Rail Link (ESRL) is a joint venture initiative between Eswatini Railways and Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) of South Africa. The project provides a transport and logistics solution designed to improve the movement of cargo between Eswatini and South Africa, making it a strategically important cross-border investment opportunity. The railway line will enhance freight capacity by establishing a dedicated General Freight Business route connecting Lothair in South Africa to Sidvokodvo in Eswatini. Upon completion, the line will accommodate 26-tonne axle loads, improving freight efficiency, strengthening regional trade connectivity, and supporting economic growth and industrial development across the Southern African region.
