Mental Health Through Sport and Physical Activity

Coaches Across Continents (CAC), with support from the Commonwealth Secretariat, has created a specialised play-based educational resource, covering issues such as anxiety, self-esteem, balancing emotions, stress and loneliness.

The project is tailored to current challenges, coming at a time when 96 per cent of CAC partners report the mental well-being of youth they engage has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Programme

  • The games shared are adaptable to varying numbers of participants and national restrictions (distancing, hygiene, one-person activity). As a result, they can be used in contexts where isolation, social distancing and public hygiene measures are necessary.
  • The supplementary resource offers guidelines and recommendations on vital topics associated with mental well-being such as:
    • Online safeguarding and protection of children
    • Connecting virtually
    • Monitoring and evaluation of the resource
