Young people can now apply to attend the Commonwealth Youth Forum in Rwanda this June. The forum will take place in Kigali from 20 to 23 June 2020.
The call for applications to attend the Commonwealth Youth Forum (CYF) has now closed and applications are being reviewed.
CYF takes place from 20 to 23 June 2020. About 500 young leaders from 54 member countries will attend and build consensus on key challenges and opportunities facing young people.
These include:
- employment
- climate change
- gender equality
- innovation
- peacebuilding
On 26 June, leaders will consider the proposed solutions at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
Attendance criteria
To attend the forum you must:
• be a Commonwealth citizen between the age of 18 and 29
• have experience in youth advocacy or development; and
• represent a youth-led body, youth organisation or a special interest group (indigenous young people, young disabled people, rural youth, etc.)
The deadline to register your interest in attending the forum was 20 March 2020.
Forum theme
The theme for the 2020 Commonwealth Youth Forum is ‘Taking Charge of Our Future’.
The Government of Rwanda, the Commonwealth and the Commonwealth Youth Council are convening the youth forum.

The Commonwealth Secretariat and host government Rwanda are exploring all options that would safely allow leaders to exchange views and address pressing issues. A decision is expected soon regarding The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM 2020) currently scheduled for Rwanda in June.
