The Commonwealth Faith Festival, a partnership between the Commonwealth Secretariat and the Khalili Foundation, encourages young people to choose dialogue and peace-building methods to support greater harmony across the Commonwealth.

This initiative aims to amplify and develop that work through online and in-person training, mentoring and network-building.

Peacebuilding initiatives

The Commonwealth Faith Festival, a Faith in the Commonwealth initiative, is open to everyone invested in peacebuilding, including faith and peace networks and organisations, schools and universities, civil society and Commonwealth Accredited Organisations.

Registration open on 20 March 2024 and training begins on 1 April 2024

Training

Training will be delivered both in-country and online. Young people will benefit from modules on peacebuilding, project management and delivery and public speaking. Certificates of completion will be awarded to each participant who completes the training courses.

Projects

Importantly, the Commonwealth Faith Festival will also nurture peace-building projects. Youth groups and community organisations are encouraged to begin peacebuilding projects that they may then submit for consideration in October 2024 for the Awards programme.  The teams of the 10 best projects will be invited for a Finale Awards event in early 2025.

The Commonwealth Faith Festival Awards will celebrate the most transformative peacebuilding projects and provide the funding for the projects to continue into the future.

The Awards have two streams:

Community Award Programme

Civil society and community organisations can win:

  • 1st prize: £26,000
  • 2nd prize: £15,000
  • 3rd prize: £10,000

Secondary School Award Programme

Student groups can win:

  • 1st prize: £3,000
  • 2nd prize: £2,000
  • 3rd prize: £1,000
