Business-to-Business Cluster: Connecting the Commonwealth Private Sector to Support a Digital and Green Recovery

Date: 23 November 2020, 11h00 – 13h00 GMT

The COVID-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc on the global economy, with global trade projected to shrink by 9.2 per cent this year. This has accelerated several megatrends that will likely affect Commonwealth trade and investment over the coming decade, including:

  • the digitalisation of trade:
  • new technology transforming the future of work;
  • accelerating climate change;
  • rapid urbanisation;
  • demographic transformations;
  • key geopolitical shifts

These challenges call for a coordinated response that builds resilience to navigate disruptions, catalyses a digital recovery as well as a green recovery.

Recovery from COVID-19 impacts

In this regard, the Business-to-Business Cluster of the Commonwealth Connectivity Agenda, will meet for a high level dialogue focusing on how businesses and governments can work together to deliver a digitally-inclusive and green recovery from COVID-19 impacts.

The event, held virtually and open to the public, will include a line-up of private and public sector speakers, including the Commonwealth Secretary-General Patricia Scotland and the Minister of Commerce of Bangladesh, Hon Tipu Munshi.

Sessions

  • Session 1: High-level panel on digital recovery
  • Session 2: High-level panel on a green and resilient recovery
