Secretary-General deplores Kenya university attack

Commonwealth Secretary-General Kamalesh Sharma has deplored today's terrorist attack on the Garissa University campus in north east Kenya, in which nearly 150 people reportedly have been killed and scores injured.

In a statement, the Secretary-General said: “The attack on Garissa University is a shameful act of cowardice against young people at their place of learning. I condemn this heinous act and extend my deepest sympathy to those bereaved as a result of this tragedy. The Commonwealth stands in solidarity with the Government and people of Kenya at this difficult time."
