The president of Mozambique has invited the Secretary-General to visit his country. The invitation was made during a meeting of the two leaders at the UN General Assembly today.

The president of Mozambique has invited the Secretary-General to visit his country. The invitation was made during a meeting of the two leaders at the UN General Assembly today.

Among the issues they discussed were trade, empowering women and children and the contribution they can make to driving the economy. "I'm really looking forward to my first visit to Mozambique," said Secretary-General Patricia Scotland.

"His excellency President Filipe Nyusi has kindly asked me to see how the Commonwealth can help in strengthening political and other institutions in his country. It's something I'm sure the Commonwealth can assist him with."
