The Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Patricia Scotland, strongly condemns the bomb attack which took place on 13 July during an election rally in the Mastung district of the Pakistan province of Balochistan.

The Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Patricia Scotland, strongly condemns the bomb attack which took place on 13 July during an election rally in the Mastung district of the Pakistan province of Balochistan. The blast killed 149 people and wounded nearly 200.

The Secretary-General offers her condolences to the victims and families directly affected by this tragedy, and expresses Commonwealth solidarity with the people and Government of Pakistan. The Secretary-General calls for a safe environment within which political candidates are free to campaign and citizens are able to exercise their right to vote without intimidation.
