Job description:

The Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, in the absence of the Director of Public Prosecutions, assume direct responsibility for office management matters, related to the deployment of legal personnel and legal assignments.

  • Advise on matters affecting legal¬†procedure and be generally responsible for assisting and providing guidance for the criminal and civil sections
  • Assist with the coordination of legislative drafting
  • Assist in advising on major Public Service matters and with respect to issues of importance referred from Ministries and Departments
  • Undertake such matters as are assigned by the Attorney General or the Director of Public Prosecutions

Requirements: 

Applicants must be a member of at least 8 years standing at The Bahamas or English Bar or of any Commonwealth country to which a member of The Bahamas Bar is admitted to practice without examination. Must also have a sound knowledge of legislative drafting, commercial practice and the legal necessities of Government Ministries, as well as experience in criminal and court law.
