We have a unique opportunity for an Adviser and Head of Oceans and Natural Resources, to work within our Trade, Oceans and Natural Resources Division.

The Trade, Oceans and Natural Resources Division is one of the major policy advisory divisions of the Commonwealth Secretariat, and supports the development efforts of member countries through technical assistance and capacity building.

The successful candidate will manage the delivery of the division’s advisory services, manage a portfolio of projects, provide advice and assist governments to formulate policies for the development of petroleum and mineral resources and for the management of marine resources, develop strategic partnerships and initiatives with multi-lateral and bi-lateral agencies in relation to petroleum and mineral resources, and contribute to international seminars, conferences, and expert group meetings.

To be considered, you will need a degree in economics, law or marine sciences, and a postgraduate degree of relevance to either marine resources or natural resources development. You will need substantial experience at a senior level as an economist, lawyer or policy expert, gained in a developing country, government ministry or in the international advisory context, and a demonstrable record of managing projects and programmes, and experience of managing a multi-disciplinary team of professionals.
